Cold-water coral expedition sets sail off North Carolina

An international team of scientists has set sail aboard the Duke University vessel ‘Cape Hatteras’ to study the giant cold-water coral mounds off North Carolina.

Protection for cold-water corals off SE United States

CHARLESTON, South Carolina, September 28, 2009 (ENS) - Protection for over 23,000 square miles of complex deepwater corals located off the coasts of the Carolinas, Georgia, and eastern Florida was advanced last week by a unanimous vote of the members of the South Atlantic Fishery Management Council, SAFMC, a federal government advisory body.
